What we collect

To send you a free Industry Guide, we ask for two things only: your email address and your business ZIP code. We do not ask for your name, your phone number, or your business name.

If you purchase a Buyer's First Look, we additionally store the three annual revenue figures you enter and the record of your payment.

How we use it

Your email address is used to send you the guide or report you asked for, and to answer you if you write to us.

If you purchase a Buyer's First Look directly from us, we may send one brief follow-up approximately 72 hours after delivery to ask whether you have any questions. We do not send follow-up messages to people who request only a free industry guide or send this additional reminder to broker-referred customers.

A complimentary 15-minute call with Mike is available after any purchased report, however you came to us.

Your email address is not used for anything else. There is no mailing list and no marketing sequence.

Who else sees it

If you came to us through a business broker's referral link, you will choose before checkout whether the report goes to you and your referring broker, or to you alone.

If you choose to share it, your referring broker receives a copy of the report and your email address, so they know which of their referrals it belongs to. They are not sent your business ZIP code.

The choice and price are shown plainly before you pay.

Artificial intelligence

Your report is produced by a benchmark calculation and wording approved in advance. We do not use generative AI to produce it, and we do not submit your figures or anything identifying you or your business to AI tools.

How long we keep it

• Free guide request records are kept for up to 12 months.
• Paid report files are kept for three years after delivery.

After that, they are deleted or stripped of identifying details, unless a different retention period applies. These retention periods are handled automatically.

Messages you send through the contact page, requests to be told when a new industry is added, and our own security records are kept until we no longer need them. They are not covered by the automatic deletion described above.
